Our Mission Statement
The Allied Climbers of San Diego is a local, environmentally responsible, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and maintaining access to climbing and outdoor recreation.

Founding Members

The role of ACSD’s Founding Members is to foster a climbers advocacy organization dedicated to managing the affairs of climbers by increasing community involvement. This is primarily accomplished through selection and appointment of the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for setting organizational policy and for managing operations. The Board upholds ACSD’s Mission Statement and adheres to its Bylaws when representing the interests of climbers in promoting and maintaining access to resources.

Officers

Officers are both elected and appointed.  Elected officers are the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Appointed officers include the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Financial Officer (Executive Committee). Jointly, these officers carry out the day to day operations, reporting directly to the Board of Directors.

Todd Smith

Todd is on the Board of Directors for Outdoor Outreach, a local Non-Profit that takes at-risk and underprivileged youth Rock Climbing, Surfing, Snowboarding and Mtn. Biking, and works as the District Outreach and Events Admin for Southern California REI, which allows him to mix work and play on a regular basis.

Keli Balo

Keli became hooked on rock climbing since her first climbing trip to Yosemite in 1998. She enjoys spending every chance she gets outside enjoying nature. Keli believes protecting access for recreation on public lands is important as it keeps our connection with nature alive and impassions us to protect the wild places that we love.

Kevin Dalfonzo

Kevin has a love and appreciation for the natural environment and has seen first hand during his almost 15 years of experience mounting biking the negative effects of poor land management. He is dedicated to preserving our natural environment and access to it. His friendships and associations with the other founding members of ACSD have allowed him the opportunity to give back a little something in return for all those days spent enjoying nature..

Bill Maki

Bill started climbing in the gym, but soon got bored with that and ventured out locally in San Diego County. He's climbed all over Southern CA and parts of Colorado, but his favorite crag is still Corte Madera.

Fred Maki

Fred has lived in San Diego County since 1965. He has been climbing since 1992. Most of his climbing has been done in southern Calif. Many of the areas that he has climbing at are threatened with closure or closed already. He has been an Access Fund member since 1993.

Holly Cheong

Holly has been working in the environmental planning field since graduating from the University of California of San Diego with a degree in Ecology in 1995. She is currently attending law school at night while working full-time and hopes to practice environmental law when she graduates in 2010.

Josh Higgins

Josh started as a gym rat at UCSD but quickly found out that multipitch traditional climbing was what he loves. Now he's often gone each weekend trying to find another climb that's longer or harder than the one before. He loves the outdoors, the amazing places that climbing has taken him, and the wild adventures he's had on the rock with fellow climbers.
