| ACSD's Grand Opening A Big Success Check out all of the photos from the event in the Photo Gallery |
The evening was a blast! Over 140 new ACSD members joined together at the
Scripps Cottage at SDSU to enjoy a catered meal, compliments of El Pescador
restaurant in La Jolla, a silent auction and opportunity drawing made possible
by all of our supporting sponsors, and a slideshow on climbing in San Diego.
It was a wonderful mixture of local San Diego climbers, people new to the
sport of climbing, and individuals concerned with outdoor recreation access
issues. Together these groups made a statement that climbers are not just
a small group of like-minded people. The turnout represented a large group
of diverse individuals from all walks of life who care deeply not only about
the sport of climbing, but about keeping all recreational user group access
open in our public lands.
For some, the slideshow was the first time they had seen what a wide variety of climbing San Diego has to offer. For others, it was shocking to hear about the access issues we have at some of San Diego’s most scenic and treasured climbing destinations. Some of San Diego’s primary crag developers were in attendance to help discuss each area and answer questions. Later in the evening, the prizes started flowing! Many members won prizes in our opportunity drawing, others were lucky enough to score big in the silent auction. Support from our vendors really helped make this evening a special occasion, and helped ACSD generate much needed funds. A special thanks goes out to these sponsors.
