Action Alert! Sign ACSD’s petition to San Diego Parks & Rec!

What:

Currently, we are JUST asking for transparency in SD Parks & Rec decision making, to pave the way for conversations with SD Parks & Rec about balancing recreation with conservation, in a data driven way

Why:

This can prevent blanket, year round closures, such at the longstanding closure of Mountaineers wall as mitigation land, despite the fact that this parcel is on a recreation lease from BLM. This lease is up a little over a year form now, (it’s a 10 year lease) so NOW is the time to start having these conversations!

Will This Work?

In Fall/Winter 2022, ACSD rallied together to open dialogue with Cleveland National Forest to work collaboratively to prevent a blanket closure for raptor nesting. Since then, El Cajon Mountain, and other local climbing areas on CNF land have remained open, with advisories to avoid certain routes at certain times as needed (stay tuned for our next email about a falcon pair on Diamond at ECM!). We hope to establish a similar collaborative relationship with San Diego County Parks & Rec. this is the first step, to ask for a seat at the table.

Protect & Respect,

The Board of Allied Climbers of San Diego
